AGAMEMNON - King of Mycenae. Son of Atreus, brother of Menelaos.  Very rich. He contributes to the expedition the biggest contingent of troops. Very cruel and arrogant personality. Agamemnon was a brave man, and killed many Trojans. He is the most powerful ruler in Hellas. Commander in chief of the large Greek coalition.

Agamemnon married Clytaemnestra of Sparta, sister of Helen (wife of Menelaos and causing of the troyan war). To be able to marry Clytaemnestra, Agamemnon murdered her previous husband Tantalus and their child, a crime Clytaemnestra did not forget.

Achilles called the king shameless schemer, and accused him of always taking the lion's share and using others to pile wealth and luxuries for himself.
