BATTLE RESULT

The battle has concluded with the crushing victory of the Norwegian. The surviving captains are HORATIO, DBXTERMINATOR, TIGER, KAMBODIA, RICHARD III, KACHOUDAS and ASTERIX.

Horatio 'Hardrada' is the new king of England

HISTORICAL ANTECEDENTS

In the year 1066 dies Edward the Confessor King of England without an heir. Seized the crown his brother-in-law Harold Godwinsson earl of Wessex.

However there are other pretenders to the throne. William the Bastard (later call the Conqueror) duke of Normandy alleges that Edward proclaimed him successor, and he is gathering a great army in Normandy to attack England.

Also Harald "Hardrada" (the Ruthless) king of Norway claim to the throne of England. To the head of his vikings, next to Scottish allies and the banished Earl Tostig of Northumbria (brother of Harold Godwinsson), he landed in Yorkshire with a large army, defeated the Northumbrian forces at Fulford and entered York.
But the following day the English Harold arrived from the south and both armies fight at Stamford Bridge. Harald Hardrada and Tostig die in the battle, and the men of the north are defeated and expelled of England.

But Harald doesn't have time of celebrating the victory. William has disembarked his strong army in the south of England. Harald should leave immediately to expel William... Although this is another history... And the battle of Stamford Bridge can have another different winner.

RULES

Players' number: Limitless (better if at the beginning both sides have same number of players)

Battles: At random. If a side has more players than the other one, the players without couple are exempt of fighting in that round (they are the first ones to fight in the following round)

Result of the battles: Losing player is eliminated. Winner survives and fights again in the following round with his army complete.

Deploy: Blind.

Map board: It is chosen by the low scorer player. Any map is valid.

Final of the battle of Stamford Bridge: When all players of a side have been eliminated, the surviving players win the battle. The player that has had less casualities per battle is elected King of England.
