Raymond IV Count of Toulouse, Count of Saint-Gilles and Marquis of Provenza. First of the princes that asked to unite to the expedition, of which wanted to be the military boss, but Urban II didn't grant it to him, and he was always fighting against the other bosses to get it. 
He was very rich and of age advanced, he was an expert and veteran military. Married with the infanta Elvira of Aragon, for what was related with the real houses of Spain, where he had participated in some sacred wars against the Moors, among them the conquest of Zaragoza. 
He leave in October of 1096 and he made vote of passing the rest of his days in Sacred Earth, leaving his lands to his son Beltrán, while his son heir Alphonse and his wife Elvira accompanied him. 
He was obstinate and greedy, but of very courteous manners that impressed to the Byzantine ones that had to the francs as barbarians. He was shown off and philanderer. He loved the game, the luxury and the politics. 
Raymond didn't have a great control on his army, that was little disciplined. It scream of war was "Tolouse, Tolouse!!!." 
The only boss that didn't accept oath of fidelity to the emperor of Byzantium, was because he said that he only owed loyalty to God. In all ways he had better relationship with Alexius that most of the other ones, that later broke the oath.

Gaston IV Viscount of Bearn and Viscount of Soule. He was distinguished for his many battles in Spain against the Moors. He was very valiant and fighter, and expert also in the construction of blockade towers. He was a noble lord, respected by all for his skill and reputation. 

Adhémar of Monteil. Bishop of Puy. Spiritual boss of the Crusade. Legacy of the Pope Urban II. 
He was of the family the Counts of Valentinois, had medium age. 
He had gone on pilgrimage to Jerusalem before 9 years. 
Excellent preacher and skilled diplomat, patient, kind and persuasive. 
He was very respected by all, for what he mediated in the disputes among the other leaders and contained their outrages. 
Adhemar always took on his clothes a lamb skin, what together to his enormous size and corpulence gave him a strange aspect. 
As general he was very astute, inventing tricks to surprise or to surround the enemy. A bishop of the "old school" - with military training and working knowledge of horse and armor.

Godfrey of Bouillon, Duke of the Low Lorraine, Margrave of Antwerp. 
He was the second son to Count Eustace II of Bolougne and Ida, daughter of Godfrey II Duke of the Low Lorraine. He was heir of the maternal branch and vassal of the Emperor Enrique IV, but very addicted to the Pope that was antagonized with the Emperor. 
Godfrey equipped a very disciplined and numerous army, after to get money of the Jews of his possessions and to sell part of his lands. 
He had manners pleasant and good figure, because was very high and he had an enormous force, he had beard and golden hair. He was not a great strategist military. 
His lineage came from Carlomagne on part of mother. 
He had combatted in Germany and Italy for the Sacred Empire Roman of Enrique IV. 
Godfrey was austere, simple and very calm and serene, for what the other leaders of the crusade, much rash, they requested him advice and they continued him when the things went bad, because he always conserved the calm. He was 27 years old.

Eustace III, Count of Boulougne.Brother bigger to Godfrey. 
As he had brought many less soldiers that he, accepted of good degree the smaller brother's headquarters. He didn't have a lot of enthusiasm for the crusade, and was anxious of returning to his rich lands.

Warner of Gray, Count of Burgundy. Cousin to Godfrey and Eustace.

Henry 2nd Baron of Rosslyn. Born 1060 Rosslyn (Scotland). Son to William the Seemly, that had arrived of Normandy. Warden of South Marches. Sir Henry of  a free nature, candid in thoughts and words, very wise, and given more to study war than peace. He participated in the battle of Alnwick. He then led the Scottish attack into English territory at Castle Alnwick in 1093.  After the battle was won, the surrendering English garrison requested that Malcolm Canmore should come in person to receive the keys of the castle.  When Malcolm reached the gates, the soldier, Arkil Morel of Bamburgh, nephew of Earl Robert de Mowbray (sworn brother of Malcolm) presented him with the keys but thrust his spear into the king's eye at the moment his hand was outstretched to receive them.  By this 'base treachery' of de Mowbray, the king Scots was killed. Henry was also a companion of Godfrey de Boullion in the 1st Crusade.

Baldwin of Boulogne. Brother smaller to Godfrey. To the being the smallest son, he had not received any earth of the family and  had been dedicated to the Church, for what had received ecclesiastical education. But he didn't have a monastic temperament. 
He formed a very strong contrast with Godfrey, because he was still tall than him, and he had the very black hair. Godfrey was kind, Baldwin was proud, cold, ambitious,gloomy and silent. Godfrey was of simple customs, Baldwin was lover of the luxury and very ambitious. 
He arrived to the crusade to obtain lands and to be created a Kingdom, for what brought his Norman wife Godvere of Tosni and to his children. He was valiant until the recklessness.

Baldwin of Rethel, Lord of LeBourg. Cousin to Baldwin and Godfrey. He had a compassionate and calm character, but he was good military and very valiant. Son to Hugh I Count of Rethel and Melisende of Montlhery.

Baldwin II Count of Hainaut. Son to Baldwin VI "The Good" Count of Flanders and Riquilda, the Count of Hainaut´s daughter. He was cousin to Robert of Flanders, and had combatted against his father Robert the Frisian. Baldwin was married of Ida, Henry II Counts of Louvain´s daughter.

Bohemond Prince of Taranto. Son to Robert Guiscard "Weasel" duke of Apulia, and Albereda. He was antagonized with his brother Roger Borsa, to who Guiscard had left the dukedom of Apulia. When not being able to extend his domains in Italy, to be hindered by his brother Roger Borsa and his uncle Roger of Sicily, decides to look for lands in East. 
Very theatrical and good speaker, convinces many Norman that they continue to the Crusade.He gathers an expert army, with very organized, equipped and disciplined troops. 
Bohemond is not a good military, because he is a too trustful and not very wise strategist, but he is good diplomat, subtle and persuasive, and very intelligent. He has magnificent presence, it is tall, strong, blond and handsome (Ana Comnenus, the Emperor's daughter, although she hated him, she describes in her memoirs that admired and charmed that was when seeing). Reputed to be strong, handsome, fearless in battle.
He hated to Alexius and to Byzancio, against which had faced years ago next to his father Roberto Guiscard. 
Bohemund proposed to Alexius that he named him major of all the forces of the Empire in Asia, but Alexius refused, because he was the western leader of which more distrusted. He marries Constance, daughter of Philip I King of France.

Tancred of Lecce:
Nephew to his powerful uncle, Bohemond. Son to the Marquis of Odon and Emma (sister to Bohemond). 
Ambitious and very valiant. Undisciplined, abrupt and very proud character. He was a furious fighter and very headstrong.

Richard, Prince of Salerno. Brother-in-law to Tancred.

Hugh Count of Vermandois. Brother to Philip I  King of France (in fact King of Paris and not very more). Nicknames: Maisne the Youth, The Great. Son smaller to Henry I of France and Ana of Kiev. He was some 40 years old. 
He had a lot of lineage but little money and very little real power. He was boaster, brave, very conceited and very proud of his lineage. 
His army was small, with his own vassals and some brother's knigths. First western leader that swore loyalty to Alexius I of Byzantium.

Robert Count of Paris. Young, impetuous and rash. 
In the palace of the emperor of Byzancio, Robert insulted to Alexius sitting down in his throne and exclaiming : "This must be a rude fellow who would alone remain seated when so many brave warriors are standing up."
This was about to cause an armed conflict, but Alexius knew how to act diplomatically.

William Viscount of Melun. Well-known as "William the Carpenter", for his dexterity managing the axe in the battles. 
Great physical strength, but not very resistant to the penalties of the hunger. 
He had participated in the Count Emich's small crusade, almost annihilated by the King Coloman's Hungarians.

Robert II "Curthose" Duke of Normandy and Count of Maine. Son to William I of England (William the Conqueror),. He was noted as a fearless fighter, but not a great general. He was some 40 years old. From his father's death was in intermittent war with his brother William Rufus King of England, that had invaded several times his dukedom. 
Robert had courage and a lot of personal charm, but was something inoperative, waster and gulf, lover of the game and of the pleasures. He was ruined, and had to request money to be able to pay the expedition to Sacred Places.

Stephen Count of Blois and Count of Chartres. Brother-in-law to Robert of Normandy 
Married with Adela, daughter to William the Conqueror. She was the one that made the decisions. She was the one that wanted Stephen to go to the crusade. 
He was the richest man in France, possessor of dozens of castles. He had a solitary temperament and was not a great warrior, but rather preferred the comfort of his home. 
Stephen was very learned and lover of the reading.

William of Grandmesnil. Married with the daughter of Roberto Guiscard, Mabel of Apulia. Brother-in-law of Bohemond. Son of Hugh I of Grandmesnil and Alice de Beaumont. Hugh was sheriff of Leicestershire and constable of Leicester Castle. Hugh took part in the Battle of Hastings (1066). When William the Conquerer visited 
Normandy in 1076, Hugh was left in command of Hampshire. There is was 
appointed sheriff of Leicestershire, and received many grants of lands, 
chiefly in Leicestershire, where has held 67 manors, and in 
Nottinghamshire, where has held 20. 

Robert II Count of Flanders. Young of personality very accused. 
His father Robert I the Frisian had gone on pilgrimage to Jerusalem and at the turn had served as mercenary of Alexius of Byzantium. 
He had a small but effective army, with troops of Low Countries. 
His wife was Clemency of Burgundy, and his cousin Robert of Normandy. 
His sister Adela was wife of Roger Borsa, duke of Apulia, for what was related with Bohemond. Robert had refused to give homage to the emperor Enrique IV for his lands of the Scalds. 
He had a very alive genius, was very valiant and had a justly and gentlemanly character, for what he was very dear for his people and soldiers.

Hugh of Saint Pol. Heir of Roger Count of Saint Pol. Son of Roger and Hedwig of Houchin. Roger received St Pol as vassal of Baldwin V Count of Flanders (his cousin)
